Watch Your Emotions

We think we are rational beings doing rational actions. And it’s always easier to spot ‘irrational’ actions in others. This is a mental prison.

Your emotions are powerful and embedded in your beliefs. Your beliefs come from life experiences, aptitudes, social circles and a good dose of cognitive dissonance. We make decisions on a subconscious level only to ‘rationalise’ and convince ourselves that we thought through – we are rational beings at the end of the day. Or are we?

The best chance you have to make rational decisions is to acknowledge you are irrational. Pause, let any emotion run through and see what is left. You may be surprised what’s on the other side.
